Kelly Ripa surfaces reading ‘David and Goliath’

Kelly Ripa emerged from her Upper East Side townhouse Thursday morning — clutching a copy of Malcolm Gladwell’s “David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants.”

A day after calling out “sick” from her co-hosting gig on ABC’s “Live with Kelly & Michael” in a fit of pique, Ripa appeared none the worse for wear — seeking inspiration from the 2013 non-fiction bestseller, which offers tales of underdogs who beat the odds.
Ripa — steaming since she was blindsided by the sudden announcement from her “Live” co-host, Michael Strahan, that he was bolting this fall for “Good Morning America” — was absent from her daytime talk show Wednesday and won’t be back until at least Tuesday.

She was replaced Thursday by Erin Andrews, who strutted on stage in a form-fitting, cream-colored dress.

During their morning banter, Andrews joked, “So what else has been going on here? No, I’m just kidding.”
Strahan smirked and laughed along with the audience, saying, “Too soon, too soon!”

The former Giants football star, who’s co-hosted with Ripa for four years, didn’t specifically mention the ongoing drama on Thursday’s show.

Ripa wasn’t told of his impending departure until after they wrapped Tuesday, leaving her fuming.

Andrews is set to stick around for Friday’s show, which is taped Thursday, too.

On Monday, Ripa will be subbed by “Pretty Little Liars” actress Shay Mitchell.

Ripa, who left her home Thursday wearing a navy flowered dress with open-toed wedges, appeared to be back at full strength — lugging a large, black leather bag along with the book.

She was spotted leaving her pad with her hunky hubby, Mark Consuelos, who was carrying a Dean & Deluca bag with a pair of gym shoes inside.

ABC claims Ripa had already put in for an extended weekend so the two could celebrate their upcoming 20th wedding anniversary — which isn’t until May 1.
