Inspired by Phyllida Barlow and Clemens Behr, artists who primarily work with recycled materials, Marta Gos created "Zaum", a 'multilayered' collection presented at the end of her final year at London College of Fashion.
Garments over garments, paint layers over paint layers, Gos' work revolves around the concept of destruction and recreation. Zooming in on individual pieces one can feel the heavy nature of the fabrics used; wool and textile blends such as cotton jersey, worn like sturdy armor.
Experimentation is a recurring theme in the world of Gos and researching fabrics is an important part of her work. From experimental composition, to layering, up to painting, the designer is not afraid of playing with new textile creations and organic patterns.
For this collection Gos collaborated with artist Riitta Haakkarainen to put together subtle and abstract shapes made from recycled acrylic, creating a special look similar to painting with a hint of visual distortion.
